Hema Balasubramanian is a self taught flute artist who has learnt vocal music under renowned Gurus of Mumbai Sri. Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar, Smt. Sulochana Nagarajan, Sri. Chandrashekara Bhagavatar and Smt. T.R.Balamani . She has taken guidance  in Flute from Smt. Neela Narayanaswamy and flute maestro S Shashank. Hema has given  several solo recitals in India and abroad and has accompanied several leading dancers in Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohini Aattam.
